Description:
BAI is seeking qualified candidates for paid internships focused on critical biodefense and biosecurity policies, programs, and issues. Selected candidates will develop and complete non-laboratory research and analysis projects in support of various U.S. government defense and homeland security programs. Interns will obtain valuable experience with biodefense research and development programs; laboratory infrastructure, safety and security; risk assessment and threat reduction; and related mission areas and initiatives. The internships offer the opportunity to obtain government security clearances and flexible work arrangements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Selected candidates will work independently and on project teams. They will perform literature-based and applied research, analysis, and planning in the areas of biodefense, biosecurity, and biological threat reduction. Interns will be assigned one or more specific projects and related responsibilities, to be carried out under the direction of corporate management and experienced mentors. Project deliverables will include written reports, assessments, briefings and presentations. Interns may be asked to develop and articulate strategies, challenges and recommendations for government-sponsored programs and initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences or related field
– Strong written and oral communication skills
– Experience with topic-based research and analysis
– Familiarity with biodefense and biosecurity issues
– Eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance
Competitive Edge Qualifications:
– Graduate level training in the biological sciences or biodefense
– Laboratory research experience
